We have searched long and hard for some items to go in our shop alongside our quilts and cushions. Our criteria was a company that wouldn't let us down and liked small business's, the items had to be of good quality, handmade, ethical and eco friendly, and, here is the biggy, something we would love in our own homes (we are a bit on the fussy side!)
Happy Halloween from back in the UK, whatever time of day it is zzzzzzzzz
It took me a while to get this one.
As promised here is ten more of the best from Beacon Hill Boston.
I think Halloween may be a little crazy in Boston. As we left the city to come home they were queuing out of the party store and down the block, with security guarding the doors!
We have experienced Halloween in Vermont before, which was good fun, quite spectacular, and was all wrapped up by 8pm with the state police joining in the festivities as well.
As promised yesterday, here is ten of the best from Beacon hill.
A few of you have asked to see inside Keepsake Quilting on Center Harbor New Hampshire USA.
Up with the lark this morning for a hike up Rattlesnake Mountain in New Hampshire, I'll let the photographs do the talking. Well worth the hike I'm sure you will agree, and beautifully warm at the summit if not a tad freezing on the walk down and up.
The things we have discovered in Stowe Vermont today are that you can buy really nice healthy food.
We have been fortunate enough to stay in Stowe Vermont New England USA four times, staying at the Stoweflake Inn and the Green Mountain Inn. This time we wanted to stay in a home to see what it felt like to actually live in the area, and cook our own food some of the time. We were lucky enough to find Two Creek Hill to rent for the week, the owner David Brownstein was incredibly helpful from our first contact with him, even showing us other properties that were smaller and lower in price than his own, in his words 'he just wanted us to stay in Vermont and have an amazing time'.
Thought I would just share with you what we have seen in New England so far, the weather has been unseasonably warm for the time of year with plenty of sun and a few hours of torrential rain. The last few days have flown past as we get used to the time difference and a different way of life. Boston has been lovely and now we are looking forward to tomorrow and the more gentle side of Vermont.
Do you like check lists? I have a check list which goes something like this, its entitled 'New England Beckons'
Today was spent on a whistle stop tour to see my youngest son before he goes off to India, and to deliver a commissioned baby quilt, more about the quilt later.
Very soon I am going to escape
I am not a very big person, especially in height, and for a long time have weighed 8.5 stone. However something weird has happened this last few years, I guess it's age!
I do love a good auction, there is the casual looking around at the auction preview, rummaging for something special, then the thrill of the auction itself.
A few weekends ago I was lucky enough to go to the Bristol Balloon Festival, I was apparently even more lucky that the weather was just perfect for all the balloons to take off on all three days.
We have been to cornwall a few times now, the trip is on good roads if you time it right, we have never been in August and probably never will, its too busy for us then.
Vita Sackville West and her husband certainly made Sissinghurst Castle Gardens a beautiful place to visit, I would love to visit again when the gardens are in full bloom.
A walk around Bosham Harbour on a sunny and cold winters afternoon produced a few good finds. I was hoping for more beautiful sunsets, but it turned out that it was shades of blue that was waiting to be captured.
You can always rely on Winchester for some beautiful doors and wreaths, plus a few surprises in the winter sunshine.
