Winchester Farmers market last weekend of the month, reads the advert.
So off we go on the hunt for all things nice to eat and of course photograph.
I got a bit distracted by all the lovely market stalls running the length of Winchester High street, mainly selling vintage and retro items with a few antiques thrown in for good measure.
I was really tempted by lots of nice things, but no, we were there for the Farmers Market so we carried on.
Nice cars seemed to be the order of the day as we wound our way towards the market.
Of course nice houses are always around to make you wish that you lived in such a lovely place.
Only in Winchester do the litter collectors wear top hats and have great personalities!
A quick visit to Pure Home brings us to this very comfy sofa, we would buy it, but until such time as we don't have a cat it's not an option, she would scratch it to bits.
So for now we will sit on it for 5 or 10 minutes every time we visit and pretend the shop is our home, it would make such a lovely house, as would a lot of the shops in Winchester, especially with all those secret underground tunnels.
Great shop displays as always in the Hambledon, an excellent shop for inspiration and always has some nice books.
A walk around the river by the City Mill brings lovely old gates going nowhere but to paddle in the water.
Ok so the point of this blog was the farmers market, well when you read 'Farmers Market last weekend of the month, that is not 31st August/1st September! Because that would be the first weekend in September wouldn't it.
So the vegetables came from Marks and Spencers!
And very lovely they were too.
However, who could resist an old tin hat box to keep all your candles in
And of course a humungus street sign!
Now originally we were attracted to it obviously because of our love of New England, however the roads seemed to ring a bell.
On arriving home we discovered that New England Road is in Haywards Heath where we used to live, my husband has run up and down that road numerous times training for marathons. The other estates no longer exist, hence the reason for the street names being sold off.
How spooky is that? It was one of those meant to be moments. The sign now hangs proudly and rather largely in our hallway.
Coffee today was had at home, before the meal of not Winchester Farmers Market Vegetables!
If you would like to go and search out the weird and wonderful in Winchester, the dates for the Antique, Collectibles, Vintage & Retro Markets are
That's the first weekend of each month, and don't go expecting to find any Farmers Market lushness, that will be the weekend before!
