25 Good things

Today I am sickened by the end of a 25 year old life that occurred in London yesterday, I can’t and don’t want to imagine the grief of Lee Rigby’s parents.

I was going to have a good old rant about thing’s that I believe are wrong, but instead I am going to share with you 25 things that I think are good about the U.K, that’s one good thing for each year of 25 year old Lee Rigby’s life.

1. The ability to put on a huge military ceremony with all its pomp and splendour.

2. The recent Olympics staged in London.

3. Some amazing restaurants serving excellent food.

4. Our beautiful countryside.

5. Cathedrals and other historic buildings (could be 25 things on its own)

6. The National Trust

7. Stunning gardens, public and private.

8. Our ability to come together and help in times of disaster.

9. Craftsmanship handed down through the centuries.

10. Our sense of humour

11. Marmite.

12. Period Dramas

13. No adverts on BBC1 and BBC2

14. Traditions

15. Rain (it would be a lot less green without it)

16. Chelsea Flower Show

17. The National Garden Scheme little yellow book

18. Seasons (bit odd at the moment, but we do have them)

19. Sunday Roast

20. Sculpture Parks

21. Strawberries

22. English Heritage

23. Art Galleries and Museums

24. History

25.  Music and talented artists.

So that’s my 25, but I’m sure you have some of your own.

R.I.P Lee Rigby, and from a parent of two sons of similar age I am truly sorry.

It takes a lot of time and effort to bring up a child into a well rounded human being, to have that taken away from you is unforgivable.

I’m all for five day weekends.

I love weekends, especially the ones where you have done everything during the week, all that is left to do is have a nice time for two days.
This weekend was one of those, we had my youngest son and his girlfriend visit, we saw nice things, ate nice things, enjoyed each others company, and we managed to fit in the all important relaxing doing nothing.
However I feel all that was lacking was three more days.

Who decided that we work five days and have two days off? Whoever it was got it the wrong way around.

Here are a few images from my weekend

Enjoy you’re weekends whatever you do, they are very precious.

And before I get told of again, a few of the above photographs are my husbands!

My perfect place to shop Uniche Interiors

Sometimes you just come across something that fits perfectly into your way of living. I have loved the Industrial vintage style of home decor for a long time now. It’s the no fuss, hardwearing style that I love. A home for me has to be lived in and not too precious, that way everyone who crosses your door feels relaxed.

Firstly take a look at the home of Mark Bentham and Laura Lane, absolutely beautiful.

I could sit in this kitchen for hours, extremely stylish and oh so usable and welcoming.

Now head on over to their amazing web store Uniche interiors where you will find almost all the items in the pictures above and more.

A message from their web store says.

Our home is a stage around which our lives unfold. How we set that stage is an extension of who we are. We believe style is individual, not ordinary. If your rooms are for living in, sofas are for sprawling on, battered is best and old is beautiful, then our vintage inspired pieces are for you.

Be creative and choose a statement piece to fit in with you’re living space, or work the full look throughout, anything goes..

Here is another excerpt from the web site that I particularly like,

Home is where the heart is… Keep your heart happy…

We at Uniche think you should treat your home as you would your friends. After all, you enjoy spending time in the company of your pad, getting that warm secure feeling whenever you’re together, surrounded by familiarity and things that you love.

But it’s not all take, sometimes you’ve got to give, you have to cheer your friends up and reassure them, buy them a box of chocolates and tell them they look great!

What better way to perk up your pad than with the gift of a present!

Think of Uniche as a sweetie shop for your home. Treat them to a mouth watering selection of quirky vintage inspired furniture, of unique accessories and unusual lighting.

Whether your friend is a warehouse apartment in London or a cottage in the country, buy them something special to show them how much you care… That’s what good friends do…

How could you resist? Head on over to their web site and drool away.

To keep up to date with all things new don’t forget to like their Facebook page, lots of lovely inspiration to brighten your day, it certainly has mine.

Tulips after the rain.

My tulips this year were looking good, even after the rain they looked lovely.

But then came the gusts of windy weather over  the last 24 hours and now they are looking a bit bashed. Please don’t let this be a repeat of last years weather.

Tetbury

As promised in my Naked garden blog I said I would show you Tetbury in Gloucester.

I have visited a few times now as I love all the antique shops and unusual buildings. There are some nice cafe’s to sit in and people watch,  plus lots of individually owned shops which is always good.

I think the pictures speak for themselves really.

Even the new houses are pleasing to look at.

IMG_0097Tetbury boasts a beautiful Asian shop called  Artique,  lots of beautiful jewel like colours throughout the shop.
