Goodbye Winchester hello London!
I’ve mentioned this before but my youngest son and his girlfriend now have no ties with Winchester and are well and truly based in London, so off we went on Sunday to explore all things new.
You know you are in London when there is everything going on on a Sunday, including loads of noise!
You can almost touch the underneath of one of these at least every 45 seconds.

And of course there are no shortage of these!

First stop was Richmond, Richmond has lots of nice unusual eating establishments

Plus some beautiful houses.

A walk down by the river provides lots of interest.

Including some unusual nesting places!

Loved this shed for fixing the boats, this is especially for my friend Dave Bassett, I think you have met your match!

Private dining on the Thames anyone?

Now brace yourself! There are lots and lots of pictures of the most beautiful place called Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, I didn’t know where to look first, so so beautiful. We had died and gone to heaven!
After consuming lots of amazing cake and exhausting our eyes and senses it was off to Wandsworth to see the new abode of my youngest son
Lots of nice Cafe’s and interesting places to visit, I love the fact that you can get anything you need easily in London, all sorts of different variety’s of tomatoes, beautiful flowers and amazing bread all within seconds of your front door. However all this comes at a price, London living is not cheap and a four bedroom house (very nice but by no means huge) will set you back almost 1.5 milion and probably still only off road parking!
Earn lots you are going to need it!
Five minutes around the corner and we are back walking along the Thames.
We were desperate to see helicopters landing on the heli pad on the Thames, my son had told me that last week there were helicopters landing and taking off every five minutes. Alas sunday was very quiet, I expect there will be one every 2 seconds during the Olympics!
Here is the Heli pad on the right hand side in front of the bridge, I will be back when it is busy!

All in all a very good day with lots of new and interesting things to see and do, I will no doubt return. Petersham Nurseries anyone? They have nice food, I don’t think we ate it all!
It looks like you had a lovely visit. That nursery is amazing!
Thanks Beth, the nursery was TRULY amazing, Visit if you ever get the chance.
Looks like you had a brilliant day and gorgeous photo’s as usual! Mum very envious of your visit to the nursery.
It was absolutely amazing in the nursery, so much to do and see in London, never sure where to look first. Apparently I have a short attention span with conversation when there is lots to look at, so I am told! Just call me nosey.
Dear Nosey, Re your short attention sp…
There is no point you getting all clever and intellectual on here MrB we just do nice stuff! By the way thank you very much for the use of three of your photographs. (He gets huffy if I don’t mention pinching pictures!) It was only three honestly.
Love the bird houses. You have not told us whether you bought anything!
Have we got to wait until something appears in a photo of your garden?
Did they sell garden sized arks!!
Lovely photos Karen, glad you enjoyed your day.
You will be amazed to know I didn’t buy a thing apart from a Wash basket for my son and his girlfriend from Zara Home! I’m saving myself for New England and a few other things planned this year.
Love all of the photos, the ones of Petersham look fabulous
Thanks Sue. Take a look at Sue’s interior barn she has some lovely things. http://www.westbarncountryinteriors.co.uk
Karen where do you find all these lovely places to visit? Have been looking at your lovely photos on Flickr & was going to ask where they were taken. I must go to Richmond. Have you ever been to Columbia road near old street station I think you would like it lots of little shops including a garden shop very nice.
Hi Anita, if you visit london quite a bit you should buy London Style Guide, you can see it at http://www.amazon.co.uk/London-Style-Guide-Sleep-Shop/dp/1742668909/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341252755&sr=8-1 I will check out Columbia road as I guess i will have many more London visits.
Ah well my sister lives next door to petersham Nurseries so am familiar with it…am surprised you did not get a snap of her hauf house or whatever they are called but would be behind a closed solid gate!!!
But beautiful pictures as always Karen…..
More than we can say for the weather….
Wendy xxx
I could have turned into the paparazzi Wendy and climbed the gate if I had known, but does she have as nice a place as you? Visit wendy’s amazing bed and breakfast at http://www.theoldschoolbedandbreakfast.com simply stunning and a very very good hostess. Book up and have a relaxing few days in stunning surroundings.
Beautiful photos Karen…..and did you buy anything in the nursery ?…..i certainly wouldn’t have come away emptyhanded !
I was very controlled Ali, all I bought was tea and cake! Could have spent a fortune, and you needed a fortune!
…looking at the latest photos you have just put up…i want to live at that nursery !!!
Now that is quite a thought Ali, we could have tea and cake anytime of day and a michelin star lunch every day, then a spot of gardening and a bit of a shop! My kind of day. Im packing already. Plus Richmond is just along the footpath beside the Thames for more shopping eating etc.Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I could while away weeks/months/years no problem, then of course we could hop on a train to all those other nice finds in London, exhibitions, art galleries, do you think I am now getting a bit carried away? Fed up of all that head to Gatwick/ Heathrow first plane out to New England, The Inns at Mill Falls/Boston? O.K I’m going to stop now.
Love the photo of Tom and Rosie both facing different ways through the window!
Thank you. You should go to Petersham Nurseries its a fabulous place to go for coffee and cake! Maybe a works outing!
Very nice
