The conservatory is back to green.

My conservatory has been restored back to a relaxing green colour called Vert De Terre by Farrow and Ball, if you have never used their paints you must, they go on so smoothly, have extremely good coverage and reflect the light beautifully. A word of warning though, always buy a tester pot and look at your sample paint patch at all different times of day, it can change dramaticaly.

Cool green a change from the previous dark blue.

A few gardening inspired bits and pieces all displayed in a wooden compartmented trug.

I thought about bringing my olive tree into the conservatory but there is not really enough room, so the cushion is the next best thing.

A bit of typography that I am quite partial to these days seems to crop up in most of my rooms.

My lovely Boston Public library bag holds some quilts and blankets for lazing snuggled up in the conservatory reading a book.
The library bags were actually used in Boston for transporting books to different areas.

This is the inscription on the inside of the library bag, it is also on the front of the Public library in Boston.

In the summer I like to have a few geraniums dotted around to give it a greenhouse feeling.

Tiny little vases hold single sprigs of mint and herbs stood together with tea lights in pretty glass holders. My house is dotted around with inspirational sayings, I’ve always done this since my children were small, I hope in a small way it helped them get them were they are today.

In the evening the conservatory is lit with candles and white fairy lights, it takes on a magical feel, along with the stars on a clear night which can be seen through the clear glass roof.

So there it is my spring/summer looking conservatory, I have ordered one more thing to finish it off, when it arrives I will show you it. I would love some old winged arm chairs to cover in old grain sacks instead of the chairs we have now, but that will be a future project and is not near the top of my list just yet.
What do you think, like the green, don’t like the green, prefer the previous dark blue?

It has been worth every penny Anita, I love it at night with just the candles and fairy lights it is so relaxing. As soon as you sit in there you feel calm, so calm in fact that you can be snoring within five minutes! My conservatory moto is PLEASE don’t turn them into somewhere to dry your washing, they can be so much better than that. We use ours all the time, on special occasions we turn it into a dining room, so lovely in the evening.

Love the conservatory – I can imagine jugs of flowers in colours to suit your mood – scarlet one
day, purple or orange the next and silver foliage another day!

I love your house, mine is so dark and old fashioned. I must be more adventurous.

Spiders Julie as if! It’s the only draw back with a conservatory all bugs are attracted to them. You just sit down in the summer and zzzzzzzzzzz, that’s fly’s not me snoring!

Hi Pauline you can get the bag from a shop called Levengers which is located in the Prudential Centre in Boston New England. Here is the link to the shop http://www.levenger.com/PAGETEMPLATES/PRODUCT/Product.asp?Params=Category=11-843|Level=2-3|pageid=4443 A century later, the Boston Public Library’s bookbag still delivers
More than 100 years ago, the workers of the Boston Public Library figured out that the best way to ferry books between their branches was in this deep, heavy-duty, easily grasped bag-one in each hand, to balance the load. Our re-creation of this living antique is true to the original but even stronger. Imagine how many grocery bags you can carry in one trip rather than ten. And how easily yoga mats and gym gear will transport. Inside the delivery bag is the quotation that’s etched on the Boylston Street side of the main library: “The commonwealth requires the education of the people as the safeguard of order and liberty.”
      Rugged canvas with robust handles
Double stitched and reinforced with a double bottom
Capable of holding 27 pounds of books
      Just 1 1/2 pounds empty
      21 1/2W x 10 3/4D x 22 1/4H
A portion of each sale benefits the Boston Public Library, America’s only public library that is also a presidential library, and where its 28 branches still shuttle books in these bags every day.

Karen, what a lovely conservatory! Every detail tells its own story. So many beautiful touches that blend perfectly together.

I love the pillows, the Boston public library bag (want one-lol), the galvanized pot of geraniums, the pretty candles, the lady of (naked) leisure and the view of the great outdoors.

This is a place to pull out a good book or magazine, grab that blanket from the library bag and curl up for hours.

Thanks Lisa, I do love it and we use it lots, when anyone visits that is the place they want to sit, especially in the evening with all the twinkly lights and candles. We sometimes put the dining room table in their for special occasions, so lovely to have dinner by candlelight especially on a very rare U.K hot evening!
